Still Have a Day Job? Here’s Why You Should Resell Instead.

Why Should You Consider a Change?

Hey friends! So, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my previous gigs, and I have just really come back to the same conclusion every time. That I absolutely love being a reseller, and that I’m so glad I made this change in my career.

Of course, reselling isn’t for everyone out there, as with any job. However, it can be extremely rewarding if you put your mind and a fair amount of effort into it.

Today, I wanted to go over the benefits that I find personally most enjoyable and relatable about switching my career path. I hope you’re able to find some value in this information and that it will be helpful if you ever decide to do the same! Thanks for reading!

Here Are The 5 Top Benefits I Find Most Valuable Being a Reseller:

  1. Better Schedule/Flexibility
  2. Be Your Own Boss
  3. Work From Home (Mostly)
  4. YOU Decide Your Income
  5. Learn New Skills & Have Fun!

1. Better Schedule/More Flexibility

This is a no brainer for me. I really think that our time is our most valuable thing, and having more flexibility in my schedule has made a world of difference.

Since becoming a reseller, I’m able to spend more time with family, since I can create my own work hours. I’m able to get into doctor appointments quicker and with less headaches, since I’m able to go in the middle of the day if that’s all they have open. (Instead of waiting days or months on end!)

I’m able to go to my brother’s games or meet up with my Dad for a quick bite during the day, or on the weekend. Speaking of weekends, I have more time on those, too!

Being proactive is something I’ll mention in a bit again, but this is definitely a skill I’ve honed in on since beginning my reselling journey. I like to plan my schedule to fit my 7 days of work into 5, (or less), so that I can spend the weekends unwinding, relaxing with the hubs, and being faced with MUCH less screen time.

2. Be Your Own Boss

This is something that you know just sounds cool! Am I right?! It does have its many perks, however. It’s pretty awesome to be able to say that I don’t have to answer to anyone, or that I don’t need to report back with a boss at the end of the day…because that’s me!

Although being your own boss can have some serious benefits, it doesn’t mean you should be slacking on any of those “boss-ly duties.” Running your own business, big or small, can really create drama in your life if you don’t know how to control it.

To combat this unnecessary drama, I recommend keeping some sort of schedule/planner/notebook, etc., so that you can properly manage your tasks day to day. (I mention a few of my favorite ones in this post if you want to check them out!)

Staying on top of tasks, business or personal related, is key to keeping your head from spinning and your schedule running smoothly and successfully.

3. Work From Home (Mostly)

You may be wondering about that “mostly” part, right?

Well, as resellers, we have the luxury of working from our homes *most* of the time. Of course, this doesn’t include sourcing/thrifting trips that are clearly outside of our homes such as places like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or Savers.

There is a way out of that however, if you’re willing to find different sourcing opportunities online. This could provide you with the option to work 100% from your home.

But wait, “What about shipping my packages?,” you may be thinking.

USPS has got you covered. Any packages you need to have shipped, are able to be picked up at your home or business address. UPS works the same way! This option has been really nice for me to utilize over the past year especially, when I’ve had more packages and less time to run anywhere.

4. YOU Decide Your Income

This point is probably my favorite. When you work for yourself, you are able to work as many or as little hours as you want.

Of course this will take valuable time away from that flexible schedule we talked previously, but if you want to grow your business faster, you have the option to.

As a reseller, your options are endless. You can choose a specific niche to focus on, or you can sell a little bit of everything! The choice is yours.

By having this opportunity, you gain access to creating an endless cap of knowledge and information to base your buys off of.

This means one thing. The more you learn about what to resell, where to resell, and how to resell, the better off your business (and bottom line) becomes.

5. Learn New Skills & Have Fun!

As an adult, I love learning way more than when I was physically in school. Who’s with me on that?

Let me know in the comment section the most valuable things you’ve learned for your business (outside of school).

When you keep your learning cap on, the opportunities simply await you. You’ll always find new doors opening the more you hone in on those soft skills.

Keep your eyes peeled for new contacts to meet, new warehouses to source from, and new platforms to sell on. All of this can have a significant impact on growing your brand, your business, and your reputation.

Just remember to keep having fun! I am a reseller for many reasons, but one of those is that I do truly love it. I have had a blast learning the ins and outs and the benefits that being a reseller can award to me. Keep enjoying yourself, be proactive, and plan ahead, so that you can play on your off days!

Reselling can be a 24/7/365 kind of career, but if you keep learning, planning, and growing, you’ll be sure to find your way to success in no time.
