A New Post, and The Continuation of a New Fun Journey!
Hey there everyone! I just wanted to start off by thanking you all for returning to read my posts, and for being so supportive thus far. I genuinely and whole heartedly appreciate it and can’t thank you enough. So! To actually thank you, I thought I could do a little giving back in a new weekly post for you guys!
I’ve gone back and forth as to if I wanted to make a new post weekly of My top 10 unique sales, or My top 10 favorite sales, etc. But, I’ve come to the conclusion that the best and most helpful posts would probably be consisting of My Top 10 BEST Sales!
UPDATE!!
So in a few posts ago, I mentioned that I will be moving the Friday posts to Thursdays. I have been thinking about this for some time now, and decided to finally make the transition. I hope this works out well for everyone else also, and that you guys enjoy reading about my finds! Thank you as always for your continued support! -Shelby
Suggestions or Comments!?
Today will be week number 20 of this new…(I guess we can’t really call it new anymore!) little blogging series, and I’ve love to hear about how you like it in the comments below! Let me know what your favorite or best sales were of the week, or if you have any suggestions to improve upon this and future posts.
I hope this provides some useful information for you all, and that you can take something away from it each and every week. I will be providing the item that sold, the platform that it sold on, the date sold, and the price that it sold for. Also, I will be letting you know if these items were sold by sending an offer, receiving an offer, or if they sold for full price. These will be listed from highest to lowest in sold price, from numbers 10 to 1.
Updates!
*Tip about “Hard Goods”: Make sure when you are finding hard goods however, that they are not too big, bulky, lengthy, or heavy. Of course UPS and FedEx offer better rates sometimes when it comes to these categories, but a lot of times you’ll still end up paying nearly $20-$30 in shipping, and that’s no fun. So just keep this in mind whenever you’re sourcing, and make sure those items will leave you enough room for a good profit margin. These items also take much longer to package, ship, and often take up more room in your inventory storage.

Kidizen Update: I have come to the conclusion that I had to let Kidizen go. Check out this post to read all about why I made the decision!

*Side Note: Since I’ve mentioned before that I’ve now updated my shipping to be a flat $4.00 across my entire eBay store, I’m just going to go ahead and include that in the total number mentioned below.
Also, I wanted to start including a few notes underneath certain items, so that you have a better idea of perhaps why I picked the item to begin with, and how the sale went for me. I hope this is helpful! Please let me know in the comments below if you have any other suggestions or questions! Thanks for reading!
Sales Number 10-6
- Item: Lot of 3 Levi’s 560 Mens Blue Comfort Fit Tapered Leg Denim Jeans Size 33×32
- How was it Sold: Offer Received
- Platform: eBay
- Date Sold: 4/24
- Sold Price: $75.00 (free shipping)
*So recently I’ve been putting together a lot more “lots,” and it seems to be helping move some more inventory. I like this strategy! If you find yourself having an overflow of inventory, this can work well to get some things moving quickly for you for larger profits as well.
- Item: Vintage 1985 Coleco Cabbage Patch Kids Soft And Cuddly Stuffed Baby Doll Outfit
- How was it Sold: Offer Sent
- Platform: eBay
- Date Sold: 4/25
- Sold Price: $75.00 (free shipping)
*Keep in mind shipping costs and shipping material costs when taking in consideration picking up larger items such as this!
- Item: Vintage Lot Of Mixed Holiday Collector Barbie Fashion Dolls And Barbie Suitcase
- How was it Sold: Offer Received
- Platform: eBay
- Date Sold: 4/26
- Sold Price: $30.00 (+$35.00 shipping)
- Item: Vintage Faconnable Sweater Lot of 2
- How was it Sold: Purchased at Full Price
- Platform: Depop (whattttt, shout out for showing up Depop!)
- Date Sold: 4/23
- Sold Price: $60.00 (free shipping)
*Since I’ve been in the revamp phase the last few months with my stores, I’m beginning to cross list again. I know I know, I said I wasn’t going to do this! However, summer slow down is here and eBay’s sales has dropped some. Therefore, I decided to shift my focus to gaining more exposure on specific items again that I think will do well on other platforms.
- Item: Vintage Candie’s Womens Brown Ankle Boots Size 7.5
- How was it Sold: Offer Sent
- Platform: Mercari
- Date Sold: 4/26
- Sold Price: $44.00 (free shipping)
*Get it Mercari! Hooray for cross listing successes!
Sales Number 5-1
- Item: Vintage Set of Maracas and Vintage Snow Globe
- How was it Sold: Offers Received
- Platform: eBay
- Date Sold: 4/24
- Sold Price: $44.00 (+ $8.00 shipping total)
*This is the second or third set of maracas I’ve sold recently. In my opinion, they’ve sold fairly quickly, so I think this is something unusual to keep on the lookout for!
- Item: Sorel Burgundy Black Tivoli High II Faux Fur Boots
- How was it Sold: Offer Sent
- Platform: Poshmark
- Date Sold: 4/23
- Sold Price: $44.00 (+ Poshmark’s flat rate $7.45 shipping)
*Poshmark, well it’s making a (slow, but steady) comeback. Since I’ve done some revamping of things over there, sales are looking up. I’m super eager to keep growing it and continuing to work on my rebranding. Check out the progress if you get a chance!
- Item: Stuart Weitzman Black Heels Booties 7M
- How was it Sold: Offer Sent
- Platform: Mercari
- Date Sold: 4/25
- Sold Price: $44.00 (free shipping)
*You may recognize these from a post a few weeks back. They sold with another item in a bundle on eBay, but unfortunately didn’t fit the buyer to their liking. They returned them, I checked them for any new flaws, and got them relisted. Then they sold on Mercari for almost full asking price! No complaints over here! Get those returns relisted people!
- Item: Vintage Lot of Mixed Plush Stuffed Animals With Various Sizes And Characters
- How was it Sold: Offer Received
- Platform: eBay
- Date Sold: 4/26
- Sold Price: $20.00 (+$19.99 shipping)
*Here’s another lot that I put together recently. I have been going through some old plush of my own, and a few sold by themselves for a decent amount. I was pleasantly surprised! However, there are some that just weren’t worth quite as much on their own, but together they still are able to fetch a pretty penny! I packaged these all cute in a nice box with some tissue paper, hence the higher charge of shipping. Presentation and impression are still my first priority!
- Item: Lululemon Womens Green Floral Midnight Scuba Full Zip Hoodie Jacket Size 10
- How was it Sold: Counter Offer Receieved
- Platform: eBay
- Date Sold: 4/24
- Sold Price: $37.00
*Definitely be on the lookout for Lululemon. From my own experience, tank tops don’t move that quickly, as the market is slightly saturated with them. However, they are still high quality pieces, and I recommend picking them up if they are in your budget. Sweaters, hoodies, and mens pants though, seem to sell within days every time. Keep your eyes peeled for the Lululemons!
Summary
Ebay has most certainly been my go to platform the last several months. My profit margins keep slowly increasing on average across the board. (Throughout the weeks, I’ve been slowly sending less packages, but with higher margins, this of course is the end goal!) However, I usually make many more sales that are less than that, which help keep my store afloat.
Check out this recent post that goes into why I decided to revamp my ENTIRE Poshmark closet!
But, these small, but regular sales, is what helps keep my stores afloat, and I really love having a variety of price points available for all kinds of different buyers across the platforms.
***So eBay’s sales have dropped a little lately as I stated above. Bummer, I know! I think this not only has to do somewhat with the “summer slow down,” but also the fact that I’ve changed a few things recently to see what the impact would be. NOT GOOD! Bummer again!! Here’s the changes I made:
- Dropped my promoted listings from 10% down to 1%
- Started listing 10 items per day instead of 25-35
So, as of today, I will be reinstating those original numbers, and hopefully by next week will see some improvements with an increase in sales. I’ll keep you in the loop!***
*Note: I also have changed over my eBay store to charging a flat fee across the board of $4.00 shipping. Although it leaves a little more leeway to open the door for lower offers that come in, it doesn’t seem to have affected my store traffic at all. This is only a week or so into making this change however, so I will be sure to keep you guys updated! *Update as of 4/29, Still going strong!
Many times, I make sales by sending out offers. I do this on every platform whenever possible. I truly believe that without this option being available, I would be making much less sales per day. Because of this, I highly recommend you send offers when you can! (And make sure your counter offers option is turned on!)
Be proactive and treat every chance to make an offer as a potential sale. Everyone loves a good deal!
Stay Active!
Now and then, I will make a larger sale, such as a Gucci purse that I sold a few weeks prior. I have a few higher end, higher priced items available, but these do not sell nearly as often as the more affordable items. (I prefer if possible, to sell my luxury items on Poshmark, since they have a free authentication service for anything over $500, this is a nice tip to keep in mind).
That is why I like to keep a plethora of different kinds of items, targeted at different kinds of customers, so that I am consistently making sales at all different sorts of price points.
eBay has really been pulling through for me lately, but I’ve been “feeding the beast” and listing like crazy, so this makes sense and I am over the moon to see that it has been working out. (Especially with jean sales! Quite space hoggers jeans are, but they’re turning quickly for me so I can’t complain! Keep an keen eye while you’re out in the wild to grab up a pair for yourself!)
It has definitely been my top selling platform as of late. Poshmark, Depop, Etsy, Mercari on the other hand, have been up and down, but when you don’t put as much effort into a platform, it definitely shows. Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to Kidizen for now.
Pop on over to this post when you’re finished reading to here all about why I decided to let it go! Just remember that the more active you stay and the more listings you consistently put up, the more sales you have the potential to make. Let’s flip all the things!
Thank You!
