Well to be short and sweet, absolutely not. Creating my own little business was (and is) one of the most complicated things I’ve yet to achieve. And I do consider it an achievement, even though I’m still sort of in the beginning stages. I’m quite excited as to how far I’ve come with my business thus far, and since I’m willing to put in the work, I think I can achieve an even greater amount of success than I’m already fortunate to have been blessed with. Putting in the work is increasingly necessary as the days go by, as each platform I operate grows bigger and better. Some operate much better than others, however, which is why I’ve made the decision to let go of and quit Kidizen.
This is sad for me, as I like the expansion across different platforms and demographics. But, since I am not yet a mom or mama-to-be, I just don’t have enough inventory flowing to keep it super active and updated.
Making the Cut
I’ve been considering this cut for some weeks now, determining if it was worth it or not. But since my sales rate on there has plummeted, and I do not have enough inventory to list under its specific categories, it’s just not worth the extra time needed to keep it up and running. I believe my last sale on there was in December, ouch!
Although I’m not able to use it to its full advantage at this particular time in my life, I do plan to keep my account open until I am ready to someday return to it if I decide it is worth it again. Perhaps after I have some maternity clothes or baby and toddler clothes revolving through my home, but that is not today.
My plan currently is to let the inventory on there run out, and then when I’m ready to go back to it someday, it will be fresh and ready for new and improved items.
Know Your Business
Part of being a reseller, or having your own business even, is knowing where you’re able to cut corners. I’ve been doing a lot of this too lately, since my expenses have gone up a lot from outsourcing, and needing more shipping/office supplies due to a higher volume of sales.

This is definitely not a bad problem to have! So I am most certainly not complaining. But when you’re making some sort of an expense nearly every single day, this is important to keep track of, and cutting the loose ends where you can.
That is where Kidizen comes in. After tallying my expenses for the last few months and finishing up taxes, I realized that my time could be better spent trying to make more sales on the platforms that are really performing. (I’m looking at you eBay!)
Kidizen does not truly take all that much time to manage per se, but it is just another thing that is mindlessly taking up 30 minutes or so of my day when I could be spending that taking more pictures or managing more shipping. These are much more productive tasks than sharing my Kidizen listings and posting more items on there, in the hopes that one will sell now and then. It’s just not feasible anymore.
Know Where Your Time is Going
As I’ve mentioned before, time management is essential to running your business smoothly. This is something I still struggle with, but I’ve improved tenfold from where I started out. Just like “every penny counts,” so does every second, minute, and hour of your day. Make those count.
Try not to waste them doing tasks that can be automated, (as in hiring a VA ((virtual assistant)) for online tasks), or on tasks that are not making you any moolah. I chose this career path not only because I love it, but also because I want to provide for my family, which I’m sure is how a lot of others feel as well.

So, how do I intend to use those extra 30+ minutes per day? I would like to use it to keep up more frequently with my sales charts. This is something that is very time-consuming to begin with, and since I don’t use a system like QuickBooks or anything at this point, I could really use the extra time to dedicate to keeping them in order.
I’ve had headache after headache the last 2 years with tax season, (this year was a lot better, though!) But I’m trying my best to minimize that as much as I can for the year to come, and that takes daily upkeep with those charts.

Summary
If you’re stretched out on multiple different platforms and trying to make them all work together, that is great if that’s what works for you! I have nothing against doing so and am still able to be found on 5 others at the moment, so I am right there with you!
Cross-listing is time-consuming, especially if you don’t have a cross-listing platform such as ListPerfectly or Vendoo. You need to figure out if that is something worth keeping up with. Don’t let the cost of the platforms outweigh your sales, fees, and cost of goods for the month.
Make sure you’re always keeping track of every little thing so that you can make these decisions if and when they are needed. It can be stressful at times, but it is super helpful at the end of the day.
