What’s Your Favorite Thing to Resell?

Reselling All The Things!

What do you favor when you head out for the hunt?

Do you search high and low for everything in each category? Do you have a particular preference to a certain category?

Today, I’d like to talk about what I like most about reselling the items I do now, and why I’ve chosen to stick with just a handful of different items.

What Do I Favor as a Full-Time Reseller?

Well, let me start by saying that I’ve sold oh so many things over the past handful of years.

I’m talking thousands and thousands of different items from different categories, and have learned a lot about these categories in the process.

After a heck of a lot trial and error, I feel as though I’ve finally set my sights on two very cool things to pick up the most. Can you guess what they are?

Sweaters and boots!

Fall is coming around the corner, (eek! My favorite time of the year!), but they have also been moving quite well for me throughout the summer months as well.

You may think that you need to buy in season *all the time,* but that’s just not the case.

Sure, I tend to source tee shirts and shorts and swimwear most often in the spring and summertime, but I still stick with my tried and true items 90% of the time these days.

Why? Because they have been actively selling consistently for a higher profit margin.

Just think, when you sell online, (which if you’re reading this, you definitely should!), you have the ability to sell worldwide. Yes, as in internationally. Pretty sweet, if you ask me.

Of Course, There’s Always Some Cons…

The list isn’t too, too long, but it’s still a bummer.

What’s the one thing sweaters and boots have in common? If you guessed that they are very bulky, you would be correct!

These suckers are heavy, bulky, and tend to take up a mean amount of space. Therefore, I’ve been doing my best in my free time to sort through any inventory that’s old, stale, or too worn, and have re-donated them to make new space available for the higher profit margin items.

As we resellers tend to learn over time, we usually like to pick favorites and try sourcing better items along the way. We get more used to finding those finicky little spots that may be hiding tiny holes, snags, and tears.

We also know that the lighting in most thrift stores sucks, a lot. This means that we have to keep a keen eye in checking for stains, sun fading, and discoloration.

Know that these flaws don’t always matter on every piece of clothing, (i.e. certain vintage sweatshirts, tees, or jeans), but keep in mind the ones that do, (i.e. NWT items, careerwear, designer items.), and you will be sure to get a good ROI (return on investment), on them.

What’s Your Favorite Thing to Resell?

Do you resell? Are you a newbie or a seasoned vet?

Do you take extra time in the thrift store to scour each and every item for flaws? Or do you just throw them babies in the buggy and deal with it later?

Sure, taking the time to make sure you don’t purchase anything unnecessary or that won’t sell is definitely a good tactic to keep.

However, *taking the time* is doing just that. Taking your time away from potentially finding more treasures, or from time you need to take those pictures later on in the day.

Use your time wisely and make snappy decisions trusting your gut. It will almost always serve you right.
