Do You Work From Home?
If you do, you probably already know what I’m getting at. A lot of us who worked from home prior to 2020, may have figured out how to get around this loophole. Then, 2020 came and went, and a lot more of us are working from home these days. I fell somewhere in the middle. Let me explain.

So, I began my reselling journey somewhere around September 2018, at least that’s what my Poshmark stats tell me. That’s the platform I began my adventures on, and although I’m not knocking it, I really don’t spend much time on it anymore.
At that time, I was still working at a diner, and a farm for two seasons, while finally deciding to go at this reselling thing full time somewhere around Winter 2019. I guess I had good intuition cause we were all soon to be working from home anyways!
Fast forward and here I am, now also a blogger, blogging away twice a week about my ups and downs and struggles to find the perfect scheduled day. This is so much harder than I’d imagined, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way!
Making The Full-Time Jump
When I started considering this as a full-time gig, I had no idea how difficult it would be to actually “work from home.” If you don’t or haven’t ever worked from home, I’m not sure you could fully understand until doing so. The struggle is really real.
I like to think I am the most efficient, productive, time-hacking millennial out there, but that’s just not the case. It’s hard work making your own schedule, especially if you want to fit life into the mix.
While I still get up at 3:45, (yes, I’m serious about that), despite all the people out there saying that it’s overrated, I really do enjoy it. But that’s just my opinion. I find that I’m always more refreshed and energized after hitting the gym early and diving right into my work while it’s still dark outside.
Of course it’s hard, but so is a lot of things. It’s creating a routine that you can continually focus on and complete daily, that really makes a schedule come together.
Oh, How You Are True, Parkinson’s Law
The old saying goes, “work expands to fill the time allotted.” (Or something to that nature, there are many versions if you Google it!) You get my point.
It’s frustrating, because I feel like everyday goes faster and faster! Yet somehow, the same amount gets accomplished. This is why at certain time, you will most likely need to start outsourcing tasks, whether that be business or personal ones.
I like to think of myself as a hard worker that is diligent and completes all tasks in a timely manner. I know a lot of others that work from home feel the same way. But sometimes, you just can’t do it all! And that’s okay!
My time is starting to get too filled up, and less sleep just isn’t an option. Parkinson’s Law has for real made me come to the understanding that, maybe it’s *time* to start using timers again! This can be extremely helpful to make sure you are staying disciplined and always making the best use of your time.
I used this strategy for awhile, but fell off the wagon a bit. At times I catch myself gearing off course, and burnt out from the current task at hand. I plan to start implementing it again, so that I’m able to track my time better, and get more tasks completed.
What Tasks Could You Outsource?
Would you? Take a step back from your business and try to see the big picture. Are you really spending your valuable time on the most important things? Or could those tasks be offloaded on someone else or a VA, (virtual assistant), so that you can get some of your precious time back for doing what you love and what helps clear you head.
For me, these activities include running, morning walks, stretching, playing with my dogs, cooking new recipes, baking, gardening, and hopefully learning the piano and a language in the nearer future! Which activities would you partake in with more free time? Let me know in the comment section.
Try to keep track of your time and what you spend it on, and make sure you aren’t dilly dallying around for minutes at a time or scrolling on Insta or FB. These time suckers can make it go by extremely fast and time is unfortunately something we can’t get back!
If you’re looking to grow and nourish your business, you obviously need and want to dedicate your time to it. However, you don’t want to dedicate too much time on work, or you’ll likely go crazy! If you need just a few minutes extra a day to spend time on your mental health, check out Headspace in your app store.
I’ve been using this app for about a year now can honestly say it’s really been helpful to making sure I take care of myself, because by doing so, I can take better care of my business, which in turn, can eventually take care of me!
Thank You!
