Last night I had a dream, some crazy ones at that. I’m sure we’ve all been there! Anyway, this reminded me of something cool that happened a few years back. I’d like to share that story with you today.
Over-Thinking My Thoughts…Again
I was laying in bed, staring at the ceiling, trying my best to fall asleep after having thought and thought about what would be best for my brand name. Obviously, this wasn’t going to happen tonight, I thought.
It’s funny how your subconscious just immediately goes to work for you once you start dozing off. At least that’s how my brain works most days it seems. (I highly suggest keeping a notepad next to your bed to jot things down at night if this happens to you, too!)
Once I finally let my guard down and tried to get some rest, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
Rooted Drawers.
It just felt right.
Why had I even thought of all those other names? They just didn’t go. They didn’t go with my brand, they didn’t go with well, anything to be honest.
But when this one popped into mind, I knew right away it was the one.
Why? Because of two good reasons. I started creating my brand not long after my grandmother passed away. This was heartbreaking to say the least, as she and I were very close.
It wasn’t that I wanted some kind of tribute thing, but I did have her on my mind a lot at the time. So, thanks subconscious for keeping her there and coming up with this perfect name for me.
I wanted something meaningful, thought out, and something that made sense, to me at least. It didn’t have to make sense to everyone else, (that’s what this post is for). To explain why and how it made sense to me!
Trying to think of anything and everything that pertained to clothing (as I was reselling only clothing at the time), was a task in itself. Pretty much everyone had already taken these, and it seriously bummed me out that nothing was really fitting.

When I started falling asleep, I began thinking about how much I adored the 4 giant willow trees out in front of her home. They were beautiful, majestic, and deeply rooted.
Enter, “Deep Rooted Drawers.”
The Name That Became The Perfect Fit.
Yes! At first, our brand name had “Deep” in the front of it. We decided to drop this off the front after about a year, as it was a bit lengthy and didn’t flow quite as well. (In our opinion, of course). This is why you’ll notice some older posts and an old email still have this attached to them.
So, why “Deep Rooted” anyway?
Here’s a fun fact about willow trees if you didn’t already know: They are *not* deeply rooted! They are very strong however and the roots can travel far away from the trees themselves. Did you know that their roots can spread up to THREE times the length of the tree?!
As I travel through this entrepreneur journey, I think about how far I’ve spread my roots as well. There’s been vast changes since the start of my business, and still so much more to branch out to.
Staying rooted in our values and work is of the utmost importance to our team, which includes traveling the long way around, (i.e. no social media, etc.).
Sure, we could make this jump and grow so much faster, but we would be giving up the fact that slow growth can get us there just as easily, with just a little bit more patience.
We’re striving each and every day to stay rooted in our values, true to the core about our packages, and honest about everything we do as a business.
This is why Rooted Drawers was so fitting 5 years ago, and why it still holds the same value to this day.
