Finally Get The Q4 Sales You’ve Been Hoping For

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope it is a beautiful time for you and your families. Thank you as always for being a part of this reselling community and returning to show your support. If you’ve been up and down in sales over the past year or so, it’s probably because 2020-present has been quite indifferent to business owners, to say the least. Sales may have been a little all over the place, and with the inflow and outflow of new money on the scene, it’s hard to predict any ongoing consistency. I’ve also had my share fair of these unfortunate fluctuations, but I’ve since developed a few systems to combat them and work through them more easily than before. I’m hopeful that these systems can be put in place for you too so that you can finally get the Q4 sales you’ve been hoping for.

Focus First on What You Have

I know this can be hard sometimes, sourcing is often the best part of reselling. However, many times…myself included, we can get piles upon piles of inventory that’s been listed improperly and is now stale, which is just a loss of funds if this isn’t remedied.

Over the holiday season, I prefer to go through my inventory and give it a good look once more. This means pulling every single item out of my bins, and doing the following:

  • Inspecting for missed flaws
  • Determine why the item hasn’t yet sold
  • Decide whether or not to list it as a new item (I prefer to list as new instead of Sell Similar on eBay)
  • Toss it in the donation pile if it doesn’t fit the new listing specifications I’ve laid out
  • Making sure the SKU is present
  • Double-checking the SKU is correct

Going through anything one by one by one is never that fun I must admit…unless they’re dollars, that would be fun.

However, more items than you may think can go unlisted and sit stacking your bins full without ever having the chance to sell. Many times these may just need a fresh set of keywords, or perhaps the category has been incorrect all this time. Even a few small tweaks can help in getting your listings back to the top of the search for your buyers to easily locate. (And hopefully, purchase)!

Keep Your Sales Saucy & Say Hello to New Strategies

Let’s face it. With all of the big box stores, Amazon, etc., it’s hard to keep up with offering 10%, or even 20% off your items. Shoppers want to feel as though they’re getting a deal, and I must say, that I fall into that category as well, who doesn’t!?

This means you’ll probably need to implement a few of the strategies below:

  • Offering higher discounted coupons to past buyers in packages as printouts to gain that repeat customer
  • Setting up a sale or two to push out stale inventory
  • Adding a volume sale as well to encourage bundling and bigger shipments per order
  • Lowering prices to more affordable rates to beat out the competition
  • Offer lots that you’ve put together ahead of time so that smaller resellers or others that want something of the same size can save on shipping
  • Include a small freebie to help out in the customer service department

Competing with other big sellers on the web, or retail stores around the holiday season can be quite the struggle at times. Fortunately, by staying prepared and focusing on the task at hand, you can surely come out on top of Q4 better than ever.

  • Pro Tip! Be sure to stock up (if you haven’t already) on extra shipping supplies, office supplies, freebies, etc.! Stay ahead of the game and think ahead so that when Q4 rolls around, you can focus your full attention on maximizing your sales.
