Are You Still Running Your Reselling Business Solo?

Resellers of all sizes! Welcome! I’m so excited you’re here, because I’d like to dive into why I no longer run my reselling business solo, and how I decided to finally hire on some assistance.

It wasn’t an easy decision, that’s for sure. But at a certain point, it became necessary. There was just absolutely no way that I was going to be able to complete all of my tasks all by myself.

I like to think of myself as a great multitasker when the time comes that it’s needed, but I also pride myself in trying not to overwhelm myself anymore.

Work/Life Balance is Really Real for us Solopreneurs

Back in the day, I would take on as many jobs as I possibly could, and that would leave me high and dry in the self-care portion of my life. It sucked.

But! I was young and full of energy, so I just kept going at it. Today, however, I feel more and more of a pull towards creating a healthy balance between work and home life, especially as my husband and I move forward in growing our family someday.

I want to be able to work hard, but work smart as well. I find that I have the best energy and work ethic whenever I have a healthy lifestyle and take time for me now and then.

This doesn’t have to be for weekends or days on end, just a few minutes here and there to breathe a little.

I just downloaded a new app lately, it’s called “Insight Timer.” I highly recommend checking it out for some midday meditation to keep you calm, cool, and collected when you know what hits the fan.

How Long Have I Been Working With Someone?

So, how long have I had someone (or more than one person) helping me out? Quite a while, actually. And although it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, I’m quite content with the help that I have currently.

I have a handful of folks that help me manage my digital life on the backend, and it’s been a huge lifesaver, to say the least.

Could I have done it all solo? Sure, probably.

But I would have been sacrificing that crucial time that I’ve finally been able to allow myself to enjoy that I’ve been missing out on for so long.

It’s easy to start burning the candle at both ends, but then you face the dreaded burnout. And that never ends well.

So, if you want my opinion, I would recommend waiting to enlist an assistant’s help until it is absolutely necessary.

Don’t jump on the bandwagon just because you see everyone else doing it. Make sure that you, (and your business), are both ready to take that leap because you will most likely be working with them for the foreseeable future if you both work well together.

Working by yourself at home (or solo at an office), can be quite the task. You can truly accomplish a heck of a lot if you really put your mind to the task at hand, and be intentional about your time.

Work Smarter Not Harder

Having someone to assist you is awesome, but it also takes away from your bottom line. This means that you need to make sure that you’re really focusing on getting someone that is exceptional and makes your life easier, not harder.

Keep in mind that they’ll of course need some training here and there, but once you get over those humps, life will smooth out and your relationship will grow together as you continue to build your business.

I’m lucky enough to have gone through a couple peeps and have come to finally be thrilled with the people I now work with on a daily basis. It’s been a beautiful and exciting journey so far, and I can’t wait to share more new adventures together as a team.

Are you facing that dreadful burnout? Try checking out some of the well-known assistant companies on the web, or throw up a listing on your local app like Thumbtack or TaskRabbit if you’re looking for someone more local.
