Hey there everyone! My fellow resellers, eBay-ers, Poshers, and the like! Today I felt was a good day to talk about the 3 Ps of Reselling. What are they you may be asking yourself? Have you heard of them before? Do they make sense to you and your business? Let’s go over them in more detail so that we can get a better understanding of the Best Practices to implement as a part-time or full-time reseller.

- Personable
- Bonus Tip!
Practical-1st P of Reselling
Keeping things practical in your business may seem like a no-brainer, especially when you’re just starting out, right? Well, unfortunately, this is often the times that we can find ourselves going a bit overboard, and that’s not always the best route to take when embarking on your reselling journey.
We’ve all heard the phrases, “Don’t Run, Walk.” Or, “Slow and Steady Wins the Race.” Or maybe, you’ve even heard about the KISS principle.
Those go for reselling, too. Taking baby steps can often be the best way to grow your business so that you have those little time pockets for cleaning up messes and adjusting things that maybe didn’t go so well on your first try.
With anything in life, rushing never gets you to where you want, or need to be. The more you get flustered about needing all the inventory and poly bags and bubble mailers and boxes and cute stickers and thank you cards and tape and business cards and measuring tapes and freebies and and and…you get what I’m saying, right? It can clearly get a little overwhelming pretty quickly.
Take it slow, learn the ropes, and keep moving forward. You’ll get to your end goal just as soon as you’ve mastered the goal that comes before it.
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
Presentable-2nd P of Reselling
Your business is an extension of yourself. It’s really that simple. If you keep it tidy, organized, presentable, and professional, you’ll succeed quicker than those who don’t follow those tips.
Success is what every business owner strives for, and by keeping your packages and presentation proper and consistent every time, you’ll be sure to gain a loyal customer base that will back you even when the going gets rough.
Be true to yourself and your buyers, and they will be grateful to be working with someone who truly cares about their business and is not just doing it for kicks.
Presentation is key they say. Find the best way to present your items to the public, and you will gain the traction you need to get that slow growth moving in the right direction.
Personable-3rd P of Reselling
Tying into being presentable, I’d like to also mention that being personable is helpful as well. Keep it classy and always be kind to each and every individual that comes into your online store. After all, there are billions of sellers out there and for some reason, you won their pick for the day.
You never know the kind of day, week, month, or year someone’s having, and perhaps they’ve gotten off to a bad start with you. Take this opportunity to turn their day around for them, and find a pocket to insert some good vibes. What’ve you got to lose?
When you make your business stand out from the rest by keeping it practical, presentable, and personable, you’ll be sure to encourage buyers to help you build the business that is both helpful and useful to you and those around you.
Quick Shout Out!
I’d like to give a quick shout-out to a recent customer of mine, that has gone above and beyond in her thanks to me as the seller. A simple thank you message is usually what I’ll receive, if any at all, or perhaps a stellar review. This in itself is a huge reward in my opinion, since I appreciate and welcome any feedback that anyone has ever got to give.
Improving my business in any way at all, or keeping up practices that have already been put in place, is something that I look to adjust or continue on a consistent basis.
It blew my mind when not only did this kind person let me know that she would shout Rooted Drawers out on her Instagram, but that when I actually went to look, she had a whole spread of images and a giant description mentioning every wonderful thing she thought about my store.
What kindness some harness! It was truly amazing to me that the community of resellers keeps proving true each and every day. We are a strong, a kind, a hard-working, and supportive community, and I am forever grateful to be a part of it.
Please be sure to stop by her Instagram, to show her some support as well! Feel free to pop over to her Poshmark closet when you’re finished following, to check out what she has to offer from her closet to yours.
*Bonus Tip! – Processes
I felt this was necessary to add to our 3 Ps of Reselling. Try keeping a good process from start to finish and keeping those processes consistent. This can help you in gaining the traction you need for your business and will get you the organization to stay on top of things.
Get a system together for each task throughout your day, so that everything is always following a specific set of rules. Make your business so easy a caveman could do it!
If you need to take a day off or decide to hire on an employee, having good processes in place will help you to keep your business in order and keep things flowing and growing in the direction that you desire.
Thank You!
