3 Reasons to List in Every Season

Hello all! Happy mid-Fall and early winter! I was thinking today about if most of us resellers like to list items in season or not and wanted to go over a little more of why I choose to list everything all year-round. Thanks for joining in again!

Let’s dive in!

Do You List According to Season?

I choose to list anything and everything the whole year through. Whether it be for clothing, shoes, or a random hard good, I list it when I source it.

Here’s my top 3 reasons:

  1. Eliminate a hefty death pile
  2. The whole world is available to sell to
  3. Extra revenue isn’t left on the table

Some resellers I’ve noticed prefer to wait until a particular season to sell shorts, or jackets, etc. But I have found it just as beneficial to sell whatever I’m picking up any time of year.

People from all over the country in different climate zones will be shopping online for your products. They could even be international if you sell on the platforms that allow it.

That means that not only are different climates available for buyers to be in, but also completely different parts of the world! Just because it’s sunny and warm on your nearest beach, doesn’t mean someone’s not looking for a nice puffer jacket somewhere else.

Could Your Store Use a Boost?

However, if you really wanted a little guaranteed boost in sales at a specific time of year, you could hold onto those things until then. Keep your holiday items for the holiday season, bikinis for Spring and Summer, and heavy flannels, sweatshirts, and jeans for the Fall and Winter.

If you guys have been following me for a while, you’ll know that I take particular interest in selling jeans, coats, sweaters, and shoes nearly the whole year through. They move pretty steadily for my store, and so that is why I continuously pick them up at the thrift. You do you, boo-boo.

Plus, if you end up holding onto things for a certain time of year, your death pile can get pretty hefty.

Are you new to reselling and wondering what a death pile is exactly? It’s that giant heap of unlisted inventory piling up in our corner that we swear we’ll get to before our next sourcing trip!

If you’re limited on space like most of us, this means you’re going to get cramped up in no time. What happens if you hit the jackpot on your last route or yard sale, and you scooped up a whole bunch of heavy sweaters?! Just think how much space they may take up if you don’t get them listed asap.

This especially goes for the items that you 100% know will sell quickly. Why bother waiting around for the right season to be upon you? Take advantage of that excellent find as soon as you can, so that you can reinvest those dollars back into your business.

So, Which Side Am I On?

I’m pro-list. That means that I actively list new, incoming inventory at all times. I constantly look for all items for all seasons and pick up what I feel will fit my store best and will sell the fastest.

Just think of all the profits you’re potentially leaving on the table by holding out on some items. Send them to new homes and get the space back in your inventory area for fresh and fun new items!
