5 New to Me Brands That Sold Quickly

8 Minute Read

New to Me Brands to BOLO (Be On the LOokout for!)

Hi there amazing internet friends of mine! Today I wanted to chat about a couple new brands that I’ve come across, that have sold within only days or weeks for me.

These are going to be brands specifically that I may not have heard of before, or have taken a chance on with. They’ve sold a handful of times now, so that makes me feel as though they are good enough to keep picking up if you see them!

So, in this article, we will go over each of the 5 brands in a little more detail, and I will pop up some example pics of ones that have sold already for me! Thanks for reading and enjoy your new BOLO’s! (Keep in mind, that many of these items shown will be vintage, but there are other newer styles out there as well! The vintage styles always seem to move faster for me, but everyone is different, so just use your best judgement and go with your gut!)

Susan Bristol

So Ms. Susan’s brand is one of those older styles that has some embellishments going on that add just a little more pizazz to the garment! The sweater that I have sold, (the first picture), went for $30.00 & free shipping within approximately a weeks time.

The other two tops pictured here, are ones that are still available for sale, but are not as fast movers as the first. I like to think this is because we are only now moving into warmer, summer weather, and they are not sweaters like the first was.

As you can see, they all have different forms of embellishments on them, and are unique in their own ways. Unique items usually sell better for me, so always keep that in mind while sourcing.

Clan Douglas

So, Clan Douglas…I had six of these mighty selling sweaters. And they sold like hotcakes! I sourced them all from the same place, and had never before heard of the brand. They are all somewhat of a cashmere blend, or purely cashmere itself. (Which is why I scooped them up in the first place!)

Sweaters typically take up a lot more space than most smaller items, so I tend to hesitate on them a little more. They sell for me quite well over the winter months, but I try to keep in mind to lay off grabbing as many when spring and summer start rolling in, so that I can save room for new season items.

Clan Douglas makes excellent garments, and they were very soft and comfortable feeling. Feel is a huge factor when you’re a reseller. After you’ve been doing it for some time, you’ll start to get a “feel” for certain higher quality blends of items, such as silk or cashmere. Getting to know to feel of them is crucial, especially when you’re at the bins or even flipping through a rack, as you will know exactly when to stop and check on an item in particular.

These sweaters all sold for prices that ranged between $19.00 & $28.00. All six of them sold within days. A few were even fought over with two buyers at once! It was madness! Beautiful madness! Can you tell I was excited? Go get you some Clan Douglas people.

JNCO

This was a particular brand I remember seeing in my teen years. It was really popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. I only recognized the brand from the seeing the logo when I was younger, but probably wouldn’t have picked it up if I didn’t hear about it from another YouTuber.

A while back, I was listening to a Depop reseller on there, and remembered them mentioning JNCO. I was shocked, because it’s been so long, but then again Gen Z is killing it with vintage sales on Depop, so I grabbed those bad boys up and got them listed asap!

*Quick Side Note: By doing a quick eBay search for this brand, and checking out the sold comps (comparisons), you will find that a whole bunch have been selling, of all styles and sizes! I believe they are typically known for jeans and jean shorts, but I’ve also seen some hoodies and shirts listed as well! Don’t sleep on JNCO!

Needless to say, they sold way quicker than expected. Within the same week of listing kinda quick. For $32.00 at that! I’m always thrilled when something moves within days or weeks. After items start sitting for months or years, that starts to make me cringe a little. (Stay tuned for a future post in more depth about how long I let items sit for, if I liquidate them, or if I re donate them!)

Carol Peretz

I’ve only come across this brand once so far in my reselling journeys, however I will definitely be keeping a keen eye out for it in future thrift trips! It was a rather recent pick up, at a local Goodwill. I decided to pop in one day on my way home, and ended up spending way more time than I planned in there of course! It’s addicting, what can I say!

This dress stood out to me because it too, was unique. The colorblock style and the feel of the dress was two of the key points I look for in items. I don’t mosey over to the dress section all that often, but since summer is coming soon, I decided to give it a go, and I’m so glad I did!

It had 100% silk lining, and had a super cool V cut back that zipped up. It sold for $30.00 + $4.00 shipping within a few days. Literally, nothing to complain about! Keep good ole Carol in mind my friends!

Pringle

This was yet another brand I’d never heard of before. I picked these guys up from the same sourcing spot as the Clan Douglas sweaters. I decided to take a chance on them, since 2 of 3 were NWT (new with tags). (Keep an eye out for a future post that goes into detail about reselling acronyms and what they all mean!)

The two that were NWT, both sold between $30.00 & $31.00. BUT! The one THAT WASN’T NEW…that baby sold for a whopping $49.99! I was floored, and super pumped. These were all huge profit margins for me, and I geeked out a little bit.

So, back to those Pringle sweaters. Nooo, not the snack! Anyways, they were also cashmere blends, or pure cashmere. Remember to keep feeling items to get the sense of that higher quality fabric, so that you know when you’ve got a winner!

A Couple Notes!

*Another Side Thought: I’ve been a reseller for somewhere around 2 & 1/2 years at this point, and every time I get a sale, I still jump for joy inside. I am so thankful, grateful, and blessed to be able to be doing what I love and from where I love to work! (My home of course!) So, if this is your goal, don’t give up! It’s definitely a possibility and only takes some hard work. If you love what you do though, trust me, it won’t be that hard!

A tip to keep in mind: Cashmere and wool often get moth holes in them, especially if they’ve sit for a little while. So before you go getting all too excited, just be sure to double, and triple check your items over BEFORE leaving the store! (I know these are often hard to see in the not so great thrift store lighting, but just remember to check for flaws on every item before purchasing. You’ll thank me later!) (Also! I will be releasing a future post about this as well! So be sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss any tips on how to check for flaws quickly and efficiently!)
