How Being a Reseller Has Changed Me

Hey, there interweb friends! I hope everyone is doing well here on this fine and fantastic Thursday! It’s absolutely beautiful outside right now, definitely a bit of weird weather popping through for December…but I’m all for it! I’ve been sitting here pondering how my life has changed since reselling swooped me off my feet 3 or so years ago, and I’m absolutely certain that I wouldn’t change one thing. Let me take you on a quick synopsis today through my own journey about how being a reseller has truly changed me as a person.

Responsibility

Let me start by saying that I think we all go through a certain phase, or phases, in our twenties that somehow shape us into the human we become thereafter. Perhaps this is too deep of a thought for a simple reselling blog post, but I really feel as though the last few years have shifted my mindset and pushed me to become a more productive and proactive person overall.

Once upon a time, I had been late to everything, ever. Once upon a time, I had been much, *dare I say* lazier. And guess what else, once upon a time, I had been a bit more open to everything than I am now. I don’t have a “guard up” now, I have just figured out how to properly pick the battles that are worth fighting day in and out. (In my business and in life in general) If you have the same thoughts, feel free to drop a comment below!

Time Management

In today’s world, I’ve become faster, more efficient, insanely more productive, and even much pickier than I thought I’d ever be. Pickier with what you may ask? Everything, really. I don’t just browse yard sale after estate sale after thrift store wandering around aimlessly and agitated when nothing pops out at me. I work hard now to create an easier lifestyle for my family in the future, as I’m sure most of you do as well.

And the kicker? I have absolutely no problem doing so. It’s almost addicting when you really get in the groove of things. Once you have a nice schedule down…FINALLY…you can start plucking things out of your day that just don’t make sense or are straight up time wasters. (Cue that new season that just came on the TV in my home office space.) Tempting? Not anymore.

Today I feel like I can really get my work done with ease and without distraction from the outside world. I have my mind set on the end goal and pretty much nothing is going to shift that thinking. (Except maybe when I’m sitting on a beach with the hubs in a few months)…

Reflexes (Health)

My health has improved. No, really. I often wonder how with less time these days…how my head and body feel clearer and better. Then I think about all of the changes that I’ve implemented over the past several years. I think about how I had the want and desire to go to the gym but never seemed to make it there after work. When I started reselling, I had no choice but to push gym time to before work, since I still held a regular 9 to 5 at the time.

Yes, it sucks. I was never much of a morning person until I had to become one. Now, most of my day takes place before most others start theirs. (Cliche, maybe…but it’s true). This is another thing that I’ve come to seriously love. Sometimes I wish the whole day just stayed dark with the birds chirping and the wind blowing out my office window. It’s lovely.

My mind has become healthier as I’ve created time pockets to instill meditation and daily walks with my dogs. (Improving both my mental space and waistline at the same time). I’ve found ways to not multi-task, but to efficiently get one task done at a time before moving on to the next.

If you’re a larger reseller, you probably know the frustration of moving way too many bins around. Bins, bags and boxes, and pallets of new inventory, it’s sure to be a workout, to say the least. This has proved to me that I was not in fact as strong as I’d previously thought. Annoying, if I do say so myself.

However, this, in turn, led me to push myself harder at the gym, to not only improve my health for the long run to be around for kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, but also to allow myself an easier time while moving things around in my space…without hurting myself.

Take care of your mind, your body, and your business. Grow together and you’ll find in time that you’ll flow together, too.
