Reselling Was Never My Dream Job.

That’s right, I said it. Reselling was never my dream job, but it has since become my passion.

Out of all of the miscellaneous, ridiculous, and many, many jobs I’ve held throughout the years, this is not one that I’d ever dreamed of doing, but I am so happy and grateful that it has found me.

We Found Love in a Hopeless Place!

It was a cold, autumn day when I decided to post my first bridesmaid dress on the platform called Poshmark.

I wasn’t entirely sure if I’d done this right, if I was going to do well, or if the dress would even sell at all.

However, I did know one thing. That this new app that I stumbled upon online, while searching for places like Plato’s Closet, seemed like the best place to start at least.

I enjoyed the experience so much that I started selling multiple items and clothing from my home. It was a blast!

The dollars started rolling in, and after a while, I had finally convinced my husband that this little gig could be the real deal.

I had been searching for years on ways to make money from home, or ideas to invent, or situations in where I could help out when we had kids someday, while still getting to spend time with my little ones.

At last, this seemed like my ticket to financial freedom and that homebound dream.

This Dream Wasn’t What I Thought It Was

At first, this little side hustle seemed easy peasy. Too easy.

Is that even for real? Can jobs be too easy??

I decided that I’d keep at it until I could save enough to spend on my own inventory, and after that took way, then I made room in my spare bedroom for a little “mini” store.

When that started taking off, I expanded into other platforms, (i.e. eBay, Depop, etc.).

It was pure bliss for a long time, years even. Until I hit a wall.

That wall came when I decided to take a short break. Then the you know what hit the fan.

You see, in reselling, or working from home with several kinds of jobs, you’re most likely going to be *on* at every waking moment.

That means you’ve got to make yourself available 24/7/365 most of the time. At least for a little, while your business is gaining momentum.

That is, *if* you even want it to be a “business” in the first place.

Some people are just fine with side hustling their way in reselling. I can respect that.

But I’m trying to make it to that top percent, and taking breaks just aren’t an option in that sense.

Unfortunately, this wall hit me hard, and I’ve seen some pretty sad declines over the past few months.

It’s been really upsetting, discouraging, and annoying if I’m being completely honest.

Annoying mostly because after you dedicate so much time throwing yourself into something you think is really going to make it, then it sinks slightly, and you aren’t sure if you’re going to be able to dig it back out of that pit you fell into.

The Road to The Top

That’s where some good old determination, perseverance, and courage have to step in.

Reselling wasn’t always my dream job, like I said before.

However, it has become a dream of mine, due to the fact that I now actually enjoy getting up and going to work for the first time in my life.

I actually love spending time with customers and interacting with subscribers.

I  look forward to starting my days out with the best intentions in mind, knowing that when I do finally decide to have children, I will be able to watch them grow closely and continuously, all the while supporting my husband in reaching our dream for financial freedom.

It was never something I knew about before, or could see myself doing.

But I’m forever grateful that this career path has made itself available for me and for so many others, so that we can live life the way we desire, and run a business that we enjoy.

If you’re on this path as well, know that it’s okay sometimes to hit a few bumps in the road.

Know that we all need to take time away to mend our minds, our relationships, or our bodies.

Businesses are built on successful attitudes, positive mindsets, and some hands down hard work.

You can get to the top if that is what you desire.

Just keep working at it a little every day and you will find yourself there before you know it.

Get after it!

P.S. Thanks to you all who have supported me throughout this journey, and are sticking with me through the ups and downs. I genuinely appreciate you staying tuned in and am forever grateful to have such an amazing and friendly community to be a part of. I’m hopeful that you will find these posts relatable and know that you, too, have in it you to live the dream job you desire most.
